Created in 2000 through an agreement between the Department of Environmental Quality in Human Settlements (SQA) of the Brazilian Ministry of Environment (MMA) and COPPE/UFRJ, Centro Clima has been actively participating in the development of public policies and strengthening the capacity of national and international stakeholders on climate change mitigation and adaptation, with a focus on national, city and state GHG inventories, building and analysis of economic and social implications of mitigation scenarios, innovative Mitigation Actions and Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects, adaptation of cities to climate change, and adaptation of small farmers to increased droughts due to climate change.
